She was born on May 24, 1955, in Searcy, Arkansas, the daughter of Dual Ray and Helen Bernice (Thacker) Covington.
On August 15, 1995, Sandy married Ray Leonard Erickson. They would have celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary next week. She cherished her role as a wife, mother and sister above all else. She dedicated many years of her life working for Payless, Jostens, and the Wamego School District, where her kindness and work ethic shone brightly.
A true lover of nature, Sandy found immense joy in her flower and vegetable garden, often welcoming the hummingbirds that graced her backyard. Easter was her favorite holiday, and she looked forward to gathering with her family for egg hunts and creating lasting memories. She also loved playing Farkle, often inviting family and friends to join in the fun. Sandy was an avid K-State and Kansas City Chiefs fan.
She is survived by her husband, Ray; six children, Mike (Maggie) Bloomer, Aliesha (Chris) Bloomer, Bryan (Bridget) Bloomer, Stephanie (Karl) Smith, Reesha (Travis) Morgan, and Logan Burgess; six siblings, Charles Guardiola, Calvin (Dorothy) Covington, Richard (Deb) Guardiola, Renee (Rick) Vandevelde, Varo (Sandy) Guardiola and Dr. Espe Guardiola; 21 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
